At lunchtime, even long-time colleagues seemed uneasy. Some avoided my father, others wore a forced smile. We were bewildered. It wasn’t until our manager called us in that we understood.
Sitting across from her, we heard talk of “inappropriate behavior” and “lack of professionalism.” The shock was profound. My father, usually so composed, was deeply affected. For him, the hospital represented integrity, trust, and respect. To see his reputation called into question because of a misunderstanding was painful.
